Picasso Landscapes: Out of Bounds

The year 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the death of Pablo Picasso (1881–1973), perhaps the most innovative and influential artist of the 20th century. The Cincinnati Art Museum is celebrating his legacy with an unprecedented exhibition, the first to examine Picasso’s lifelong engagement with landscape. Picasso Landscapes: Out of Bounds brings to our galleries paintings and sculptures by the artist from some 25 public and private collections across the United States and Europe.

Creating Connections: Self-Taught Artists in the Rosenthal Collection

Works of art connect us. Yet mystery surrounds both our experiences of making them and our encounters with them. 

Drawn from the collection of Richard Rosenthal and his family, this exhibition celebrates a promised gift to the Cincinnati Art Museum and features 38 works by self-taught artists from diverse cultures and circumstances.

Roberto Lugo: Hi-Def Archives

March 17–September 24, 2023 Vance Waddell and Mayerson Galleries (Galleries 124 and 125)

Roberto Lugo (Puerto Rican-American, b. 1981) draws from his lived experience and deep knowledge of ceramic history to create works that elevate the stories of those historically absent from the decoration of extravagant examples of pottery.
